Dr Lutie Van den Berg (Principal)
MB Bch (Wits) FRNZCGP, FRACGP
DR Lutie Van Den Berg holds a postgraduate in skin cancer qualifications and continues to study and assist in research in skin cancer, medicine and surgery. Dr Van Den Berg is also a member of the Skin Cancer College of Australia and New Zealand.
Dr Sheldon Browning
MBBS, DipRANZCOG, FRACGP, DipDerm, MMED (Skin Cancer)
Dr Browning graduated from the University of Queensland in 1991 and has lived and worked in North Queensland for most of his career. His qualifications include a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
He has practiced Skin Cancer Medicine in Mackay since 2004. During this time he completed the prestigious Cardiff Diploma of Dermatology (with a departmental recommendation) and has a Master’s Degree in Skin Cancer. He has certification in advanced dermoscopy and dermal imaging, as well as advanced skin cancer surgery.
Dr Browning has co-authored articles and published research in the field of skin cancer in national and international peer reviewed medical journals.

Dr Helen Cleveland
Dr Cleveland graduated in the UK in 2006, and has worked in a variety of hospital specialities since graduating. She has a wide clinical knowledge base especially in general medicine, surgery and paediatrics.
Within general practice, Dr Cleveland has also developed a special interest in women’s health, gaining diplomas in obstetrics and gynaecology, and sexual and reproductive healthcare. She is also trained to insert contraceptive implants and Mirena coils. Dr Cleveland is available Monday & Friday for appointments.
Dr Marius Botha
Dr Botha graduated from medical school in South Africa and was a registrar in ear, nose and throat for one year. Dr Botha has worked in Australia for more than 6 years and has completed both the AMC and RACGP exams—achieving the highest marks in Queensland for the practical part for practice-based GPs.
Dr Marius Botha is currently is his final year of the Graduate Certificate of Allergic Diseases at UWS and has special interest in allergies and skin prick testing, as well as asthma, eczema, ear, nose and throat diseases. Dr Marius Botha is available Tuesday to Thursday.
Our Mackay Skin Cancer Clinic answers telephone calls from 7:45am to 5:00pm, Monday to Thursday & Friday till midday.
Lloyds Northside Clinic answers telephone calls Monday to Friday 7:45am to 5:00pm and is closed Thursdays afternoon.
Five telephone lines are available, however, please be patient when calling during peak times —8:00am to 9:00am.
Urgent calls will be dealt with promptly.
A standard Mackay medical consultation is for 10 minutes. If you feel that you may need a longer consultation time with your doctor, please inform the receptionist when you book.
Please note specialised medical examinations or procedures may require a longer appointment.
